Good question ! It will be different depending on the position and how deep the backbend is. A chest stand will be more shallow breathing through the nose. A backbend it depends which position. For example wheel pose (bridge) you want to maintain a steady 'normal' breath. If you are doing a drop back bridge you will inhale as you reach your hands up and exhale as you lower to ground then when in the bridge normal breathing. Hope this helps a little. Thats amazing that you did a bridge with extended legs for the first time! How exciting. Yes the chest stand can feel a lot of pressure on the neck especially if you have not been used to doing them consistently. However If you feel the neck is weak or really sore it might mean to ease back a bit. Do you feel your upper back bending?
